Mechanical Drafter

Job Description

As a Mechanical Drafter, you will be responsible for preparing detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices, including specifications for mechanical equipment, dies, tools, and controls. You will utilize computer-assisted drafting (CAD) equipment to develop design drawings and collaborate with other team members to resolve design challenges. Leading design change projects in factories and computing mathematical formulas to design detailed specifications will be part of your role.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed working diagrams of machinery and mechanical devices.
  • Develop detailed design drawings and specifications using CAD equipment.
  • Coordinate with other workers to design, lay out, or detail components and systems.
  • Lead design change projects in factories.
  • Compute mathematical formulas to develop detailed specifications for components or machinery.
  • Update notes, callouts, instructions, and comments on drawings.
  • Design scale or full-size blueprints of specialty items like furniture and automobile components.
  • Check dimensions of materials and assign numbers to them.
  • Lay out and draw schematic, orthographic, or angle views to depict functional relationships.
  • Evaluate cost, effectiveness, reliability, and safety of mechanical designs.
  • Evaluate continuous improvements in design and manufacture.
  • Lead design actions needed to address customer field quality complaints.
  • Correct errors in BOM structures for components.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in mechanical drafting and CAD software, including SolidWorks and Creo.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • 5-7 years of experience in SolidWorks or equivalent PLM.
Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $33.00/hr.
