The Field Engineer plays a critical role in supporting the successful execution of construction projects by managing technical field tasks, layout activities, and material coordination. This position ensures accurate implementation of project design through precise layout work, supports rebar and post-tensioning material logistics, and collaborates with the project team to maintain project efficiency, quality, and safety. The Field Engineer is expected to work in varying job site conditions and contribute to the overall planning and execution of project operations.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Receives and distributes project design documents.
  • Reviews, approves, and submits rebar shop drawings.
  • Participate in basic layout and field engineering activities. These activities would include:
    • Establish control lines from control points.
    • Layout Foundations.
    • Layout vertical formwork such as columns and walls.
    • Establish elevation control points.
    • Layout decks and deck edges.
    • Layout required embeds block-outs and other items required by contract.
  • Coordinates deliveries, inventories, shortages and fabrication discrepancies for all reinforcing steel post-tensioning materials for assigned project.
  • Assists the project team in establishing the sequential steps involved in all processes with the scope of the project and adapts schedules and work tasks accordingly.
  • Works closely with the project team monitoring the safety, cost and scheduling of construction projects.
  • Assists with the development and coordination of material and equipment schedules and promotes their efficient use.
  • Performs special projects and completes all other duties as assigned or requested for the general support of the organization.

  • Working during inclement weather, could be exposed to extreme cold and heat, noise and dust from construction operations depending upon project site.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, construction management or relevant area of education and/or equivalent work experience plus a minimum of two years’ work experience supporting similar key responsibilities.
  • Completed coursework in computer-aided drafting / building information modeling or an equivalent combination of training and/or work experience.
  • Knowledge of construction formwork systems, take-offs and estimating processes obtained from education or industry experience.
  • Strong mathematical and visualization skills.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in field engineering/lay-out.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, as well as with customers and vendors.

Salary range for this position is $83,000 - $105,000/year based on experience.
