Piqua Materials is seeking a results-oriented and safety-driven Aggregate Production Foreman to lead our quarry operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising daily activities within our surface mining operation, ensuring efficient, safe, and productive processes. This role is ideal for a hands-on leader with strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for continuous improvement.
Key Skills & Responsibilities
Leadership & Supervision
- Lead and supervise a team of plant and pit personnel, promoting accountability and operational excellence.
- Conduct daily job assignments and safety meetings, ensuring team alignment with production goals and safety expectations.
- Walk the site regularly to maintain visibility, provide support, and address operational concerns in real time.
- Support employee development through coaching, performance feedback, and on-the-job training.
Production Oversight
- Coordinate and manage daily aggregate production to meet demand for limestone products.
- Monitor key operational metrics and adjust processes to ensure production efficiency and quality standards.
- Troubleshoot production issues involving mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical systems and work collaboratively with maintenance teams to resolve them.
- Ensure that material output meets or exceeds customer specifications.
Operational Efficiency
- Analyze plant performance and identify opportunities for productivity gains and cost reduction.
- Recommend and implement improvements in process, technology, and resource allocation.
- Track equipment utilization and downtime to drive preventative maintenance practices and operational reliability.
Safety & Compliance
- Enforce MSHA safety regulations and internal company safety protocols across all operations.
- Conduct regular safety audits and inspections, documenting and addressing any concerns proactively.
- Ensure environmental compliance with all applicable laws and promote sustainable site practices.
Team Collaboration & Communication
- Maintain open communication with plant management, maintenance, and logistics teams to prioritize tasks and coordinate schedules.
- Communicate effectively with upper management on operational performance, equipment needs, and staffing challenges.
- Collaborate across shifts to ensure a seamless transition and consistent operations.
Required Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in aggregate production, surface mining, or related heavy industrial environment.
- 1-2 years of supervisory experience in a production or maintenance role preferred.
- Strong working knowledge of aggregate equipment such as crushers, conveyors, screens, and loaders.
- Ability to read production reports and analyze data to inform decisions.
- Familiarity with MSHA regulations and site safety procedures.
- Strong problem-solving skills with mechanical and operational systems.
- Ability to lead teams in a fast-paced, outdoor work environment.
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
- Foreman's license (or ability to obtain one).
Preferred Skills
- Experience with operational software such as Workday, Mine Sentry, or similar systems.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
- Background in high-calcium limestone or related industries is a plus.
