Oliver Inc. is seeking a detail-oriented and results-driven Purchasing Agent to join our team! This is a key role responsible for ensuring company purchases are made strategically, economically, and in full compliance with corporate and ISO policies. You'll collaborate cross-functionally across departments to maintain cost-effective purchasing practices while building strong vendor relationships and supporting company operations.
About the Role
As our Purchasing Agent, you will:
Process purchase orders and requisitions, ensuring timely approvals and follow-ups
Analyze vendor quotes and services to select the most cost-effective, high-quality options
Handle assigned areas such as certificates of insurance, consumable inventories, copiers, and off-standard reporting
Collaborate with teams across finance, production, sales, facilities, and customer service
Issue debit memos/chargebacks and assist with accounts payable and receiving functions
Maintain and establish vendor relationships; continually source new suppliers
Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and escalate questionable purchases as needed
Research commodities and pricing to support departments including estimating and manufacturing
About You
You're a fit for the role of Purchasing Agent if you have:
2-5 years of purchasing experience, ideally within the printing or packaging industry
High school diploma required; bachelor's degree preferred
Strong computer proficiency (Excel, Word); experience with ERP systems like Solar Soft, Great Plains, or CRC is a plus
Working knowledge of various pricing models (per pound, lot, cwt, etc.)
Strong organizational, communication, and multitasking skills
Ability to interpret financial reports, respond to inquiries, and manage vendor relationships with professionalism
Aptitude for problem-solving and data analysis across various formats (written, diagram, schedule, etc.)
