SUMMARY : The position is responsible for diagnosing faults and performing repairs on transportation fleet vehicles; ensuring vehicles are in safe operating condition; and maintaining written documentation of repairs to meet district, state, and federal requirements.

1. Diagnoses, repairs, and maintains all types of vehicles (e.g. buses, forklifts, trucks, vans, etc.), vehicle systems, and equipment to include, but not limited to: diesel/gasoline engines, drive-train systems, suspension and steering, tires (including changing and balancing), heating and cooling systems, airbrakes/hydraulic brakes, wheelchair lifts, hydraulics, windshields/windows, electrical and other mechanical systems. Completes minor vehicle body repairs and building/facility repairs as required. Uses metal fabrication tools and equipment as required.

2. Diagnoses vehicle malfunctions (e.g. using computer diagnostic equipment) to determine required vehicle repair.

EDUCATION AND RELATED WORK EXPERIENCE :
- High school diploma, or equivalent, preferred
- Coursework in vocational school in related field, preferred
- No experience required, but 1-3 years of diesel/gasoline engine repair experience preferred
LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS or CERTIFICATIONS :
- Must be at least 21 years old
- Must obtain and maintain a minimum of a Wyoming Class B Commercial Drivers’ License (CDL) with P and S endorsements by the conclusion of the district-provided training course
- Must obtain and maintain a Department of Transportation Medical Examiner’s Certificate upon offer of employment Driver insurability via the district’s insurance required
- Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driving and CPR/First Aid Certificates by the conclusion of the district-provided training course
- Criminal background check required for hire.

MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT OPERATING KNOWLEDGE :
- Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals; typical office equipment, such as telephones, copier, etc.; and office productivity programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite, e-mail, etc.; preferred at hire; required within 3 months after hire
- Operational knowledge of school buses and district vehicles required at the conclusion of the district-provided training course
