We are seeking a detail-oriented Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, writing manufacturing instructions and generating drawings for connectorized cable assemblies and thermocouple assemblies for the Exhaust Gas Turbine (EGT) Systems in gas turbine engines. This role involves working on projects for both commercial and military applications, ensuring high performance and reliability in demanding environments. Providing technical support to sales, quality control and customers. This is a full time onsite position in Saddle Brook NJ.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Design & Development: Drive the design and development of advanced connectorized cable assemblies and thermocouple systems tailored for Exhaust Gas Temperature (EGT) applications in gas turbine engines. Ensure robust, efficient, and cost-effective solutions aligned with system-level performance requirements.
  • Ownership of Technical Documentation: Generate and maintain comprehensive engineering documentation, including 3D models, detailed drawings, and technical specifications. Ensure accuracy, traceability, and compliance across all design artifacts.
  • Prototype Management & Validation: Lead the prototyping, testing, and validation processes to ensure functional integrity and performance reliability. Analyze test data, perform root cause investigations, and lead corrective actions to optimize design outcomes.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-disciplinary teams-project management, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain-to drive product development from concept through production, ensuring feasibility, manufacturability, and schedule adherence.
  • Regulatory & Standards Compliance: Ensure all designs adhere to applicable industry standards (e.g., ASME, ANSI, ISO), customer specifications, and regulatory guidelines. Act as a subject matter expert during audits and design reviews.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Champion continuous improvement initiatives by leveraging emerging technologies, materials, and best practices to enhance product performance, manufacturability, and cost-efficiency. Provide mentorship and technical leadership within the design engineering team.
  • Customer support: Provide technical support to customers and address any design-related issues or inquiries.

Qualification:

  • Education: Minimum Bachelor's degree in - Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field with proficiency and knowledge of Radio Frequency electrical characteristics.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in designing cable assemblies and thermocouple assemblies, preferably in the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and familiarity with industry standards (e.g., UL, MIL-STD, ASME).
  • Problem Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve design issues.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively.
