SHI - Education Project Coordinator - Culturally Responsive Career Technical Education Pathway

Job Summary

Coordinates project logistics and supports program delivery. This position supports the implementation of the Culturally Responsive Career Technical Education Pathways grant-funded project implemented by Sealaska Heritage Institute. The program will serve AK Native students across Southeast AK in post-secondary planning including (dual enrollment CTE courses, Indigenous College and Career Fair, post secondary planning and work readiness, mentorships/internships and Traditional Games) by managing procurement, travel, and contract workflows.

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Plan and implement logistics for assigned projects and events.
  • Maintain files, data and reports and assist with development of administrative procedures for institutional record keeping.
  • Draft contracts and track payments for program contractors.
  • Make program purchases following all documentation procedures.
  • Collect attendance data and verify all data entered into projects secure relational database when applicable.
  • Diplomatically communicate with a diverse group of important external callers and visitors as well as internal contacts at all levels of the organization.
  • Coordinate contract development in alignment with internal policies and proedures.
  • Monitor timelines and deliverables.
  • Other duties as required

Supervisory Responsibility

This position will have no direct reports.

Work Environment

This position's duties are performed at SHI offices. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to verbally communicate. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, and climbing. The employee must frequently lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds.

About this Role

This is a full-time benefited position. SHI employees are expected to work during SHI's regular business hours of 8:00am to 4:30pm Monday to Friday. Additionally, employees may work up to or over 45 hours per week or additional time as needed to meet workload demands or special events such as Celebration. Part-time staff are expected to work 20 hours per week.

Required Education and Experience

  • High School Diploma
  • Two years of administrative experience or equivalent office experience
  • Experience providing services to Alaska Native youth and their families

Preferred Education and Experience

  • 4 years of professional work in the education or project related field
  • Experience with event coordination; experience with coordinating project logistics
