Civil Engineer I
Salary Group B26-$76,530-$129,430
Performs facilities engineering work related to buildings and site development, in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, and construction administration. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence. Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Civil Engineer II
Salary Group B27-$84,182-$142,374
Performs highly advanced and complex facilities engineering work related to buildings and site development in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, and construction administration. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards, and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Essential Duties:
Civil Engineer I
Drives/travels to project/work locations to make on-site engineering reviews, analyses, tests and to provide technical support.
Monitors consultants' progress and work quality; checks invoices and associated documents; prepares supplemental agreements.
Performs complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.
Reviews, processes and certifies project design plans developed by consulting engineers.
Serves as a project manager overseeing consultants performing advanced and complex engineering work.
Prepares and seals engineering construction documents for bidding.
Reviews shop drawings, plans, specifications, estimates, supplemental agreements and change order requests relative to facility construction.
Utilize project management principals in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling and closing for complex mechanical and/or structural engineering projects related to facility construction.
Coordinates phases of preliminary design and revisions in PS&E with districts, divisions, Administration, contractors, fabricators, and local entities.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Civil Engineer II:
All of the above, and:
Leads/Trains professional and administrative staff.
Performs advanced and complex engineering design work such as development of layouts, sketches, plans, specifications, estimates and contracts.
Monitors consultant design contracts.
Minimum Qualifications:
Civil Engineer I
Education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
Experience: 4 years of experience in engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related engineering. (Experience can be satisfied by full time or prorated part time equivalent). Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis. Civil Engineer II
Education: Bachelor's Degree in engineering or related science bachelor's or higher degree accepted by TX PELS.
Experience: 6 years of experience in engineering, structural engineering, civil engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related engineering.
