The Position
Project Managers perform professional services in planning, coordinating, directing and managing the activities of construction projects and capital improvement programs; develop design concepts; determine cost estimates and budgets; negotiate reviews and modify contracts, agreements, architectural/engineering plans, specifications, and schedules as appropriate.
The Project Manager I will plan, organize, and oversee military construction, improvement, and maintenance projects for the Nevada Office of the Military. This position manages assigned statewide capital improvement projects as well as sustainment, modernization, and restoration efforts. Responsibilities include assessing facility conditions, developing design concepts, estimating costs and budgets, and preparing and negotiating contracts. The Project Manager coordinates project schedules, leads meetings with agency and facility staff, and conducts site inspections to monitor progress and compliance. The role spans the full project lifecycle. From development and schematic design through permitting, bidding, construction, and closeout. Duties include preparing work programs, participating in design reviews, developing bid documents and specifications, and estimating costs. The Project Manager also handles permitting, develops consultant RFPs, participates in selection, and manages contracts. Construction administration responsibilities include bid solicitation, issuing addenda, conducting bid openings, contract preparation, and processing billings, change orders, and submittals. The Project Manager conducts inspections to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, federal standards, and applicable codes, and provides technical support to field staff. They are also responsible for ensuring contract documents specify high, quality construction practices and that those practices are followed, with deficiencies identified and resolved through follow up inspections. Additionally, the Project Manager collaborates with Installations and Environment staff to update and maintain the Nevada Army National Guard's Long Range Construction Plan in PRIDE.
