Summary:

This role is responsible for the structural analysis, design, and certification of attachments systems that connect LED display cabinets to primary and secondary structures along with display design support. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in structural design, weight load, wind and seismic load analysis, and a thorough understanding of code compliance for permanent and temporary installation across varying environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform structural analysis and design of attachment methods for LED cabinets to steel, concrete, and aluminum primary structures.
  • Provide stamped ready drawings in compliance with applicable building codes (IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, etc.)
  • Evaluate wind, seismic and live load impacts to ensure safety and code compliance of LED display installations.
  • Calculate weight loads and assess impact on existing or proposed building structures.
  • Review and approve fabrication and installation drawings, ensuring alignment with structural specifications.
  • Coordinate with project managers, fabricators, and installation teams to ensure structural designs are executable and efficient.
  • (Optional) Conduct on-site structural evaluations, when necessary, to validate assumptions or respond to issues during or after installation.
  • Prepare and review structural reports, submittals, and permit documentation.
  • Stay current with evolving building codes, material specifications, and industry trends related to structural engineering in the digital signage and LED display space.
  • Create preliminary (presale) structural drawings for a variety of sizes, shapes, and configurations of LED signage for estimating purposes, delivered to procurement/solutions architects
  • Structural engineering related to the creation of preliminary drawings, and engineering for cabinet analysis for things like wind load rating
  • Create spreadsheets or other engineering design tools to facilitate structural engineering design
  • Reach out to engineering companies to request quotes for engineering work required to get permits
  • Create, coordinate, edit, and revise drawings with outside engineering companies to get permits from the applicable jurisdiction
  • Edit the scope of work in our contracts that relate to our structure and responsibilities
  • Provide support for project managers in the field during installation (questions arising during installation)
  • Coordinate/assist/provide direction to SRA for structural engineering related to LED cabinet analysis
  • Attend meetings as a representative from the Design team to provide input, note action items, etc.
  • Coordinate work with coworkers and assist/pass off work to others when needed
  • Mentor new coworker(s) in the design team by answering questions, providing guidance, assigning work, etc.
  • Use Inventor to create 3D models of displays and secondary steel structures.
  • Use Inventor to create 2D drawings of 3D models.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited program. Master's Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in structural engineering, with at least 2 years in display systems, signage, or similar mounting structures preferred.
  • Licensed professional Engineer (P.E.) with structural design (S.E. where applicable) in at least one U.S. state, with the ability to obtain licensure in additional states as required.
  • Proficient in structural analysis software such as RISA, SAP2000, STAAD.Pro, or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of CAD and 3D modeling software (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Revit preferred).
  • Strong understanding of relevant building codes and design standards including IBC, ASCE 7, AISC, and ACI.
  • Ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings and integrate with LED display requirements.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners.
