Survey CAD Technician
Job Description

We are seeking a talented Survey CAD Technician to join our team in Cary, NC. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work closely with our Survey Data Manager and Survey Project Manager, providing CAD, plan management, and modeling support to our construction projects throughout the Carolinas.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the Survey Project Manager and field crews to draft As-Built surveys and provide construction stakeout computations.
  • Provide project support by assisting the Survey Data Manager with organizing plans utilizing a digital plan management system.
  • Prepare subgrade surface models and analyze UAS/drone-based photogrammetry surveys on projects to provide quantity estimates to the Project Management team.
  • Assist the Survey Data Manager with GNSS machine control model building in Trimble Business Center.
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of a company-wide Quality Management Plan.
  • Assist with developing and documenting department procedures and coordinating implementation across all projects.
Essential Skills
  • Proficiency in CADD software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, and MicroStation.
  • General knowledge of site and utility construction surveying principles and procedures.
  • Valid state driver's license.
  • Associate degree or technical certificate required.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of Trimble Construction equipment and software including Trimble Business Center, Siteworks, GCS900, SPS900, and Access.
  • Skills in land surveying, 3D modeling, document management, project management, BIM, BIM modeling, and 3D drafting.
Work Environment

The position is based in our Cary, NC office, with potential for limited travel. You will be working with advanced survey technology and positioning support systems, contributing to our heavy civil construction projects across the Carolinas.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $50000.00 - $75000.00/yr.

D.H. Griffin Infrastructure is the Heavy Civil Construction component of the D.H. Griffin Companies. DHGI has built on top of decades of success in the wrecking and demolition industries to become one of the premier Heavy Civil contractors in North Carolina. DHGI Surveying was developed to provide survey technology and positioning support to our growing fleet of GNSS controlled heavy equipment. DHGI Surveying has grown to provide additional services through our Digital Plan Management System, Quality Management Plan, Project Support and Training, and As-Builts under the direction of our Professional Licensed Surveyor.

The Survey CAD Technician will work closely with our Survey Data Manager and Survey Project Manager to provide CAD, plan management, and modeling support to our construction projects throughout the Carolinas.

Requirements:
Must possess a valid state drivers license.
Must possess general knowledge of site and utility construction surveying principles and procedures.
Must be proficient in CADD software such as: AutoCAD Civil 3D, Trimble Business Center, MicroStation, Carlson
Associate degree or technical certificate required; Bachelors degree preferred

Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of Trimble Construction equipment and software including: Trimble Business Center, Earthworks, Siteworks, GCS900, SPS900, Access etc.
