Job Description This role involves comprehensive participation in construction and project management activities, including design and model reviews, construction work package development, sequence planning, and systems turnover processes. As a Construction Field Engineer, you will be responsible for the pre-mobilization work such as developing bid requisitions and technical bid documents, participating in contractor bid reviews, and maintaining performance verification tools. You will actively verify contractor alignment to performance requirements, support material issue resolutions, and contribute to record-keeping of construction metrics and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). Your role extends to post-execution activities, safety, quality, and change management initiatives. Responsibilities
- Participate in project execution planning activities, including design reviews and construction sequence planning.
- Develop bid requisitions and technical bid documents in consultation with the Construction Manager and Project Engineer.
- Actively verify contractor alignment to performance requirements, including safety, quality, cost, schedule, and change management.
- Support contractor and engineering procurement with material issues, shortages, and discrepancies.
- Maintain construction metrics and KPIs, including field quantity surveys and contractor performance monitoring.
- Participate in contractor close-out and lesson-learned meetings.
- Review and engage in safety initiatives, adhere to the Safety Management System, and wear required PPE.
- Participate in field hazard assessments and risk assessments.
- Observe and mentor team members within the mentorship and competency program.
- Verify adherence to project specifications and manage the Master Deficiency List (MDL).
- Manage project turnovers and participate in the development and management of project schedules.
- Verify contractor progress and project performance, and communicate findings to leadership.
- Review contractor reporting to verify accuracy of actuals and forecasts.
- Participate in monthly accrual processes and change management risk identification and resolution.
- Communicate and process contractor requests for information, field change notices, and clarifications.
- Provide progress, risk, and look-ahead reporting.
- Engage in communication with peers and external project stakeholders.
- Participate in toolbox, coordination, and communication meetings.
- Maintain a daily journal or log, recording key conversations and information.
- Minimum of 5+ years experience in a field role on large industrial construction projects.
- An associates degree in engineering technology in the mechanical discipline.
- Formal training in Health and Safety.
- Experience in construction, change orders, industrial construction, and civil estimation.
- 5+ years of construction management experience in large industrial or petrochemical environments.
- Formal EH&S training, construction inspection, and instrumentation.
- Associate's or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Degree in construction management.
- Prior refinery experience.
