Position Description: Manages the Cost Department. Responsible for preparing and analyzing profit center financial performance results.
Reports to: General Manager and Finance Manager (jointly)
Essential Duties & Responsibilities*:
- Manage and evaluate Cost Department staff and train in project cost control and forecasting.
- Supervise the preparation of all cost reports, forecasts and other special studies as required.
- Provide an independent judgment of the indicated outcome in the Budget Analysis Report (BAR) of individual projects and make recommendations.
- Prepare financial information, forecasts and recommendations for Annual Plan.
- Train other departments and jobsite staff in cost control function.
- Evaluate data reported by Cost Analyst to ensure integrity of the data.
- Identify risks on projects that will impact earnings and develop action plans to rectify risk issues.
- Facilitate the monthly forecasting as it relates to profit center projections of revenue and earnings (Business Planning and Consolidation - BPC).
- Discuss project issues on a continual basis with the General Manager (GM) and the Financial Manager (FM).
- Attend all Operations Review Management (ORM) and project set-up meetings.
- Ensure preparation of the final Cost Audited BAR (CAB) to reconcile to the final contract value and cost.
- Track publication of BARs, CABs and IORs.
Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance, Engineering, Construction Management or related field and at least six years' accounting experience highly desirable. Cost Analyst experience required. Extensive knowledge of accounting principles and cost control procedures, including Turner's accounting policies and procedures. Demonstrated leadership and interpersonal skills. Strong computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite of programs. Very strong verbal and written communication skills required. Assignment requires approval from National Director of Cost.
