SUMMARY: The Ignition Exciter Supervisor will provide leadership, direction, and technical oversight to the Ignition Exciter Team and the Paint Department. This role is responsible for ensuring operational excellence by managing workflow, driving technician development, and maintaining compliance with FAA regulations and internal quality standards. The Supervisor will be expected to lead by example, foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement, and ensure customer expectations are consistently met or exceeded.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Oversee day-to-day operations of the Ignition Exciter and Paint production areas.
- Lead, mentor, and train technicians to ensure efficiency, quality, and compliance.
- Monitor production flow and adjust resources and priorities to meet customer deadlines.
- Provide hands-on technical support as needed, ensuring FAA and internal compliance standards are met.
- Enforce the proper use of required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) by all team members at all times.
- Ensure strict adherence to all safety policies, procedures, and regulations within the Ignition Exciter and Paint work areas.
- Monitor and maintain compliance with applicable environmental controls and hazardous materials handling guidelines.
- Act as the primary liaison between the Ignition Exciter team, Customer Service, Inventory, Quality, and Production Planning.
- Promote a safety-first culture through ongoing coaching, training, and reinforcement of best practices.
- Immediately address and report any safety or environmental concerns or incidents in accordance with company protocol.
- Ensure accurate documentation of all maintenance and repair records in accordance with FAA and company guidelines.
- Review completed components for process accuracy and quality assurance.
- Manage performance, conduct evaluations, and support career development of team members.
- Maintain current certifications and ensure team proficiency with tools and equipment, including soldering (J-STD-001) and paint processes.
- Collaborate with Inventory and Planning teams to resolve parts availability, lead times, and usage trends.
- Promote and enforce safety protocols, 6S principles, and adherence to the company's quality management system.
- Lead or support cross-functional improvement initiatives and audit readiness.
- Perform technician-level duties as needed to meet customer demands or address backlogs.
- Other duties as assigned.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree
- 6+ years of relevant/technical work experience.
- OR an additional 3 years of specific work experience in lieu of degree.
- Ability to think on your feet and find effective solutions to unexpected challenges in production.
- Demonstrated understanding of workplace safety standards, proper PPE usage, and environmental compliance in a production or MRO environment
- Proficient with Microsoft office products (Excel, Word).
- Experience with aerospace paint processes and/or oxygen-acetylene torch work.
- Ability to read and interpret technical information.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in scheduling, logistics, and documentation.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-standards environment while managing multiple priorities.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of relevant work experience.
- High mechanical aptitude.
