Position Title: Electrical Engineer

Location: Warm Springs, VA

Position Status: Direct hire

Summary:

Seeking a candidate for an experienced Engineer / Senior Engineer (Electrical) to take a lead role responsible for providing engineering and technical support to the station. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to: Root cause analysis and problem solving; equipment condition assessment (vibration, oil analysis, etc.); equipment specification development and review; troubleshooting of electrical systems and programmable logic controllers; management of station breaker monitoring program; review and issuing Digging, Drilling or Cutting Permits; overseeing and interacting with contractors and consultants; perform capital project review; performing generator and equipment inspections; and performing other duties as assigned. This posting is for one position, which will be filled at the level (Engineer or Senior Engineer) commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and skill level.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering (engineering technology degrees are not acceptable for this position).
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles
  • Must have a valid driver's license
  • Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters
  • Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
  • Strong personal computer skills
  • In-depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs
  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer software to assist in preparation of reports, presentations, database development and data review
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team leader
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (includes technical writing)
  • Knowledge of plant electrical distribution equipment, generator equipment, relay and motor control systems, battery and uninterruptible power systems, SF6 breakers, and frequency converter
  • Must be able to analyze complex problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results)
  • Ability to interpret codes, regulations and practices
  • Must be able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels
