Summary:

Seeking a candidate for an experienced Engineer, Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer (Civil/Geotechnical) to take a lead role responsible for all engineering and geotechnical aspects of the station geotechnical program providing technical expertise to ensure the day-to-day operation, monitoring and maintenance of high-pressure tunnels, drainage tunnels, dam safety monitoring, civil structure site assessment, and maintenance and repair is performed at the highest standard. As a senior team member, the incumbent will provide guidance and training to Bath team members. Core responsibilities include but are not limited to: Overseeing and performing data collection and analysis; developing instrumentation and equipment specifications; performing civil structure, tunnel and dam safety inspections; regulatory reporting; reviewing emergency action plans; developing maintenance and repair plans; performing slope stability analyses for cut slopes, embankment slopes, and sediment pond slopes, using hand and computer methods; acting as subject matter expert for station management and other groups in the areas of civil/geotechnical engineering and dam safety; providing engineering support to station operations and maintenance personnel; and performing other duties as assigned. This posting is for one position, which will be filled at the level (Engineer, Senior Engineer, Staff Engineer) commensurate with the successful candidate's experience and skill level.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in engineering (engineering technology degrees are not acceptable for this position). Strongly prefer: Civil Engineering degree with a Geotechnical, Hydrology/Hydraulics and/or Dam Engineering focus. We prefer (not required) a current valid Professional Engineer license and the ability to obtain the PE license by reciprocity in Virginia and in other states in which Dominion does business.
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experiences
  • Full knowledge of engineering theories and principles
  • Skilled in advanced techniques and modification of theories, precepts, and practices
  • Strong leadership skills with proven ability to serve as team project lead
  • Strong personal computer skills
  • In-depth knowledge of various computer applications, with the ability to perform engineering calculations using applicable software programs
  • Strong planning, organizational, and project management skills
  • Knowledge and proficiency in the use of computer software to assist in preparation of reports, presentations, database development and data review
  • Must be able to analyze problems and provide solutions (demonstrated results)
  • Must be able to work safely in a plant environment including confined spaces, around water, at elevated heights, and in underground tunnels
  • Strong written and oral communication skills (includes technical writing)
  • Knowledge of principles of hydrogeology
  • Knowledge or experience with FERC regulated dams or dam safety
  • Knowledge of business/financial and contractual matters
  • Ability to perform significant amount of fieldwork outdoors in a rugged environment and to do so independently
  • Must have a valid driver's license
