Position Overview The Director of Construction will lead the centralized Project Management Office (PMO) for RL Colds national development portfolio. This role is responsible for implementing and overseeing project management standards, tools, processes, and reporting across all construction initiatives. The Director will ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget by applying PMP-based methodologies to drive consistency, accountability, and excellence throughout the project lifecycle.

The ideal candidate is a seasoned project management leader with construction experience, who can drive operational efficiencies, manage risk, and build scalable systems for execution at a national level.

Key Responsibilities
PMO Strategy & Governance Establish and manage the Construction PMO, including the framework, governance, and standard operating procedures. Implement and enforce project management best practices aligned with PMI/PMP standards across the project portfolio. Define and monitor project KPIs, success metrics, risk mitigation protocols, and QA/QC measures.

Portfolio Management Lead the oversight of all active construction projects, ensuring milestones, budgets, and quality benchmarks are achieved. Drive portfolio-wide reporting on schedule performance, budget status, change control, and risk analysis. Partner with SVP of Design and Construction and other leadership to prioritize and resource projects based on business goals.

Project Execution Oversight Support project managers in planning, executing, monitoring, and closing projects using standardized PM tools (e.g., Procore, MS Project). Provide guidance on schedule development, critical path identification, cost control, procurement timelines, and stakeholder communication. Ensure compliance with legal, contractual, safety, and regulatory requirements across all projects.

Cross-functional Collaboration Serve as a liaison between construction, development, design, finance, and operations teams. Facilitate project reviews, progress updates, and executive reporting for internal and external stakeholders, including capital partners. Support onboarding and oversight of third-party contractors, consultants, and vendors.

Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and grow a high-performing team of project management professionals. Create a culture of ownership, operational excellence, and continuous improvement. Promote adherence to project controls, documentation standards, and transparent communication across teams.

Qualifications
Education & Certifications Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or a related field (required) Masters degree in Business Administration, Real Estate, or Construction Management (preferred) PMP (Project Management Professional) certification (Preferred) Additional credentials such as CCM or LEED AP are a plus

Experience 812 years of progressive experience in construction project management, ideally in commercial, industrial, or cold storage development Proven experience building or managing a PMO or program-level governance structure Demonstrated expertise in full project lifecycle management, contract oversight, and financial controls

Technical Proficiency Expertise in project management software and platforms (Procore, MS Project, Bluebeam) Strong Excel and Microsoft Office proficiency Deep understanding of construction delivery models, AIA contracts, permitting, and cost management

Leadership & Soft Skills Strategic thinker with strong organizational, time management, and delegation skills Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage executives, investors, and field teams Professional integrity, detail-oriented mindset, and adaptability in a fast-paced environment

Other Requirements Willingness to travel to job sites across North America (up to 50%) Commitment to driving safety, quality, and operational discipline
