Construction Manager Conventional Power
Location: Project site location TBD (mobilization required)
Initial Planning Phase: Kansas City approx. 6 months
Per Diem: $132.12/day (non-taxed) in Kansas City; $173/day (taxed) at project site
Experience Preference: Union or union management background; conventional power experience
We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager to lead on-site activities for large-scale conventional power projects. This role oversees subcontractor and direct-hire teams to ensure safety, schedule, quality, and budget targets are met. The position begins with project planning in Overland Park, KS, followed by mobilization to the project site.
Key Responsibilities-
Manage and coordinate all on-site construction activities to meet CPM schedule and contractual requirements

Implement project execution plans and supervise all superintendents, providing mentorship and leadership

Monitor productivity, schedule performance, and project costs; implement recovery plans as needed

Lead construction completion walkdowns, punch list closeout, and turnover to startup teams

Coordinate material acceptance, equipment rentals, and shared resource usage with subcontractors

Conduct weekly coordination and subcontractor meetings, reporting progress to project controls

Review and approve change requests, backcharges, and payment requests

Ensure adherence to safety, quality, and ethical standards, acting as site Safety Representative if needed

Oversee construction equipment budgets and Division 8 labor costs

Resolve safety, quality, and operational issues in collaboration with relevant managers

10+ years of relevant construction management experience (Conventional Power preferred)

Proven ability to manage 400+ direct-hire union craft workers

Experience developing and manpower-loading large-scale project schedules

Bachelors degree in construction, engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience)

OSHA training preferred

Knowledge of various power generation technologies: Simple Cycle, Combined Cycle, Pulverized Coal, Circulating Fluidized Bed, Nuclear

EPC industry and constructability expertise

Strong budgeting, project controls, and risk management skills

Ability to lead, mentor, and resolve conflicts effectively

Strong problem-solving, planning, and presentation abilities

Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in confined or elevated areas

Capability to work 12-hour shifts in varying weather conditions

Ability to climb, kneel, bend, and maintain balance on steel structures, ladders, and scaffolds
