We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Civil Project Engineer to join our team. This role involves overseeing and executing site civil design projects, including stormwater, sanitary sewer, water main, pavement, and grading design for both site and subdivision plans. The ideal candidate will have experience in project management, permitting, and coordination with regulatory agencies, as well as mentoring junior engineers.

Civil Project Engineer Responsibilities:

  • Design and develop site civil plans , including stormwater, sanitary sewer, water main, pavement, and grading for various projects.
  • Prepare and review water main and sewer designs in compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Oversee the production of site civil plans, grading plans, Soil Erosion and Sediment Control (SESC) plans, standard details, and as-built drawings.
  • Manage the permitting process , coordinating with regulatory agencies to secure approvals.
  • Write, review, and approve project specifications to ensure quality and compliance.
  • Provide direction and oversight to junior engineers, fostering a collaborative work environment.
  • Prepare cost estimates, manage bid letting, and develop contracting documents.
  • Develop and review Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plans for construction projects.
  • Handle Requests for Information (RFIs) and review shop drawings for compliance with project requirements.
  • Attend project progress meetings , document key discussions, and prepare meeting minutes.
  • Assist in the preparation of proposals and business development efforts.
  • Create and maintain project documentation using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) .
  • Willingness to travel for out-of-town assignments based on project needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Civil Project Engineer Requirements:
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the United States, or the ability to get one within one year.
  • 6-10+ years of experience in civil engineering within both the public and private sectors.
  • Bachelors or Masters degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with clients and project stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D for civil design work.
  • Ability to apply engineering principles in dynamic real-world scenarios.
  • Motivated to adjust schedules as needed to meet project deadlines and client expectations.
  • Experience working with municipal clients and knowledge of geotechnical, water/wastewater, structural, and hydraulic engineering is a plus.
  • Proven ability to collaborate and maintain professional relationships across multiple offices.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States.
  • Valid and insurable driving record.
