Mechanical Engineer
Job Description

The Mechanical Engineer is responsible for designing and developing the mechanical aspects of the product. This role manages the mechanical architecture, defines the product structure, and prepares the bill of materials to support procurement. Additionally, the engineer contributes to the creation of assembly instructions and provides technical support throughout the assembly and procurement processes.

Responsibilities

  • Design castings, machined parts, and welded assemblies using advanced CAD tools.
  • Model complex geometries and assemblies with a focus on manufacturability and performance.
  • Create layouts and piping systems for mechanical installations in compliance with project specifications and safety standards.
  • Select materials based on mechanical properties, cost-effectiveness, and application suitability.
  • Choose standard and custom components to enhance performance, durability, and cost-efficiency.
  • Define and evaluate manufacturing methods for sheet metal, steel structures, and additively manufactured parts.
  • Collaborate with production teams to ensure design feasibility and alignment with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Prepare clear installation instructions and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Maintain accurate design records, bills of materials (BOMs), and revision histories.
  • Lead design reviews and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential issues early in development.
  • Work closely with electrical, structural, and manufacturing engineers to integrate systems and resolve technical challenges.
  • Analyze existing designs and processes to identify opportunities for cost reduction, performance improvement, and sustainability.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, including additive manufacturing and advanced materials, to drive innovation.
Essential Skills
  • 5+ years of professional experience in Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in Solidworks, GD&T, and ASME.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, such as Mechatronics or Manufacturing Engineering.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Experience with Packaging Equipment is a plus.
  • Proficiency in 3D modeling, AutoCAD, and drafting.
  • Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA), PLM, ERP, and Excel.
Work Environment

This role operates in a very fast-paced environment within a small team. Candidates should not expect to only perform CAD drawings all day. Effective communication with the shop floor, performing CAD duties, asking questions, providing feedback, and participating in client meetings are crucial. Full benefits are provided for full-time employees, with 50% coverage for family members.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $45.00 - $57.00/hr.
