Base Rate:

$19.64

Performance Pay:

Available annually

New hire experience:

1% of the base hourly rate granted for each year of verified like experience (within ten years) beyond the requirement, up to a ten-year maximum

New hire education:

1% of the base hourly rate awarded for an AA or higher degree if not required for the position

B21, 12 months

OVERVIEW

To operate equipment used in trade to prepare ground locations for immediate use of for next phase of construction; to repair surfaces or structures to ensure health and safety of students, district personnel and public.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School education or equivalent preferred
  • Valid, or ability to obtain within 90 days, Arizona CDL driver’s license with tanker endorsement
  • Two years experience with construction related hand and power tools preferred
  • One year experience operating tractor/loaders with attachments preferred
  • Construction work or manual labor experience
  • Ability to regularly lift and/or to move up to 50 pounds and on occasion lift and/or move up to 100 pounds
  • Ability to operate equipment used in trade (I,e, dump truck, tractor front end loaders, skid loader, tractor with box scraper, bucket truck, etc)
  • Knowledge of “Blue stake” color codes and markings preferred
  • Knowledge of athletic field layout, construction and renovation preferred
  • Ability to perform work assignments in accordance with verbal and/or written instructions
  • Ability to establish and to maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with coworkers and supervisors

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install flood and sprinkler irrigation lines, berms, chain link fences, playground equipment, etc to maintain the safety and attractive condition of facilities
  • Maintain equipment and tools to make minor repairs and to perform routine maintenance
  • Prepare work orders to provide information to document work activities
  • Prepare a variety of ground locations by trenching, grading, etc to ready the site for immediate use of for the next phase of construction
  • Repair asphalt drives, parking lots, irrigation lines, walls and fences, etc to ensure the health and safety of students and district personnel
  • Respond to emergency situations (i.e. fallen trees, damaged block walls, broken irrigation lines, etc) to resolve or assist in the resolution of immediate health and safety concerns
  • Regular and on-time attendance required
  • Transport various materials including sand, dirt, playground equipment, supplies and debris to and from job sites in a timely manner
  • Assist other personnel as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities

Grounds Foreman Structure

Prior to employment or during the first 3 months of new hire probationary period, drug and alcohol testing shall be required of all new contract employees who work in Transportation. Any applicants having a confirmed positive test shall not be eligible for employment.
