Who are we are looking for?
Our Southeast Water team in the DC Metro area ( Bowie, MD or Chantilly, VA ) is looking for a Construction Inspector with expertise in water and wastewater facility and pipeline construction. Youll play a vital role in overseeing medium to large-scale projects such as water distribution lines, gravity sewer lines, pump stations, and treatment plants. As the on-site representative, youll serve as the primary liaison between the construction manager, Owner, and Contractor, ensuring quality and compliance throughout the project lifecycle. From coordinating weekly meetings and third-party materials testing to managing redline drawings and construction documentation, this role offers a hands-on opportunity to shape essential infrastructure while working closely with client operations and project stakeholders. Responsibilities
- Personal Capability Building: Develop and maintain excellent process or technical skills by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching.
- Product and Solution Development: Support others by carrying out simple product development or engineering tasks, such as gathering data or preparing documents. Involves following established procedures.
- Solutions Analysis: Assess compliance with established standards and protocols for routine inquiries.
- Project Management: Support project managers by performing simple tasks. Involves following established procedures.
- Testing: Perform a broad range of tests requiring detailed assessment, measurement, and judgment.
- Equipment Installation: Carry out standard installation activities under detailed guidance. Troubleshoot basic technical or operational problems by applying previously defined solutions.
- Data Collection and Analysis: Extract relevant data from information provided by others, and input it into spreadsheets or standard formats.
- Insights and Reporting: Extract simple/automatic data in various forms (graphs, charts, etc.) to include in reports.
- Work Scheduling and Allocation: Organize own work schedule in order to get the job done, coordinating with support services and assigning short-term tasks to others if necessary
What you will bring to the team:
- High School Diploma / GED; degrees, certifications, and other documented training and education is a plus.
- 8-15 years of experience in general contracting, construction inspection and/or construction management, with a focus on water, wastewater, and stormwater projects.
- Experience with reading and understanding construction plans and specifications.
- Familiar with the current standards and specifications for Soil Erosion & Sediment Control.
- Familiar with various construction means and methods of pipeline identification, tracing, pressure testing, and installation procedures.
- Experience working with multiple subcontractors and demonstrated effective communication with clients, Owners and Contractors.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to use multiple platforms and devices for documentation and communication, such as MS Word, Excel, and Teams and tablets, cameras, and mobile devices.
- Able and willing to work in the field 90-100% of the time.
Salary Range: $26.00-$44.50 based on experience
