Piping Foreman
Objective:
The position of Piping Foreman is responsible for the overall success of a Pipe crew. The successful candidate for this role will embrace a safe and productive work environment. We are looking for competent Pipe Foremen to coordinate Pipe operations and oversee a crew of workers at construction sites. As the point of reference of both workers and supervisors, you will be a key person for the completion of a project. All work products shall meet or exceed the required contractual requirements. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Responsibilities:
Ability to enforce and abide by Federal, State, Local, and Company safety policies while completing satisfactory and quality work
Leading by example, ensures PPE is utilized at all times while on jobsite eg hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, high visibility vest, steel toe boots, pants, and gloves.
Ability to maintain a safe work environment for crew members and the public.
Safely manage productive work in confined spaces and trench excavations.
Fully understands the requirements of 811 Utility Locates.
Manages placement, displacement, and moving various traffic control devices.
Ability to efficiently operate various types of heavy equipment, including compactors, skid steers, mini-excavators, backhoes, bulldozers, larger excavators.
Ability to operate GPS equipment and train crew on its operation.
Ability to coordinate crews, material delivery, equipment, for effective pipe installation.
Competency in grades and understanding of how to read plans and shoot grades from plans.
Competency in excavating, backfilling, and compacting trenches in and around existing utilities.
Competency in efficiently installing underground improvements, including domestic water, force main and lift station sewer, gravity storm, gravity sewer, and underground retention systems.
Competency of all piping types, including RCP, CMP, DIP,PVC, HDPE, HP, etc.
Competency of culverts and large underground conveyance.
Supervise and effectively manage crew.
Disseminates project information to crews through the use of software.
Plans, monitors, and adjust crew and equipment productivity to maximize performance.
Effectively complete daily log, JSAs, Toolbox Talks, delivery logs, inspection reports, etc.
Maintain equipment by keeping it clean and in proper working order.
Report and document any damaged or unsafe equipment to Superintendent immediately.
Take initiative and anticipate what needs to be done.
Contribute vital information to management in regularly and in job meetings that effect positive change. Recommends measures to improve productions methods, equipment performance, product quality, and crew performance.
Nights and weekends are required based on project demands.
Qualifications:
5-10 years heavy equipment operation experience.
OSHA 10/30 preferred, plus competent person trench and confined space training.
Flagging Certification preferred
GDOT WECS or TCS Certifications are a plus
GSWCC Blue card
Provide crew task-specific leadership.
Proven record of being a self-starter and able to work under limited supervision.
Positive attitude towards work.
Exceptional organizational and leadership skills.
Upbeat, enthusiastic attitude toward crew listening to their ideas
Leads crew by being a positive example. Provides mentorship to younger less experienced employees.
Driver's license and safe driving record.
Must be drug free and pass pre-employment and regular random drug test.
Fluent in English. Spanish as a second language is a positive.
