Level 1 Technician - Low Voltage & Structured Cabling - Onsite Richmond, VA Position Summary We are seeking motivated Level 1 Technicians with foundational experience in low voltage systems, structured cabling, and fiber installation. This role involves hands-on work at various commercial project sites including airports, schools, data centers, telecom co-location facilities, and corporate buildings. Key Responsibilities Install and route cabling to meet infrastructure standards. Measure, cut, and terminate CAT5, CAT6, and other cable types. Interpret blueprints and schematics for cable runs and device placement. Terminate CAT3 and CAT5 jacks; mount faceplates and surface boxes. Follow labeling standards for all installations. Build telecommunications closets including: Mounting backboards, racks, patch panels, and fiber hardware. Installing grounding systems for racks and equipment. Completing IDC terminations (110/66 blocks and patch panels). Technical Skills & Tasks Perform continuity testing on horizontal and riser cables. Use volt-ohm meters and tone sets to troubleshoot cable issues (opens, shorts, crosses, transposed pairs). Identify active voice and data circuits. Learn and apply best practices in structured cabling and low voltage systems. Qualifications Basic understanding of low voltage cabling and fiber optics. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics. Familiarity with hand tools and testing equipment. Willingness to learn and grow within a fast-paced technical environment. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $23.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
