CAD Draftsman/Technician

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES: The primary responsibility of the CAD Draftsman/Technician position is to provide drafting and file maintenance support for the Engineering function.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Purchasing Manager or CEO

Typical Physical Demands: The physical demands of the CAD Draftsman/Technician position are not considered to be strenuous.

Typical Working Conditions : The duties of this position are typically carried out in an office environment with occasional time required in a manufacturing setting. Day shift only, no nights or weekends.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Primary functions (ie, Product related)

o Create and maintain product, assembly and information drawings.

o Create and maintain drawings used in instruction sheets, OEM customer drawings and Marketing collateral.

o Create and maintain drawings for facilities, tooling, fixtures and equipment.

o Create and maintain product bill-of-materials within our ERP system and ProNest

o Process drawing/design changes utilizing company procedures.

Assist with product prototype manufacture, test, etc.

o Other duties as assigned

Secondary Functions (ie, CAD Services related)

o Create and update custom 2D drawings and related documents

o Create and maintain tools to increase the efficiency of the administrative and manufacturing processes (eg, AutoCAD macros, VBA programs, etc.)

Assist with customer custom orders

SKILLS/ABILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:

Must have a thorough working knowledge of drafting principles.

Must be proficient with AutoCAD or similar PC based drafting tools.

Ability to create and use automated data mining and other types of routines within AutoCAD is preferred.

Must have a working knowledge of common MS Office software.

Must be able to adjust daily priorities based on management direction.

Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and instructions.

Must be detail oriented.

Must be self-motivated and be able to function effectively with minimal supervision.

Must be willing to accept new challenges.

Must be willing to accept responsibility for own actions.

Must be willing to share knowledge with others.

EDUCATION: An Associate of Science degree in mechanical drafting (or similar) from an accredited technical school or college is desired but not required. Applicable experience will be considered.
