Framing Superintendent
Position Overview:
The Framing Superintendent is responsible for overseeing self-perform wood framing and siding operations on large-scale commercial construction projects. These projects typically range from $50MM to $150MM in total value, with framing and siding scopes between $5MM and $20MM. This role manages all phases from mobilization and setup through demobilization and closeout, ensuring work is completed safely, on time, within budget, and to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Supervise all wood framing and siding activities, ensuring quality, safety, and schedule adherence.
+ Lead framing/siding crews, coordinate material and panel deliveries, and ensure compliance with contract documents and building codes.
+ Perform layout and verify field dimensions for framing.
+ Manage project schedules and crew workflows to plan, implement, and monitor framing/siding sequences.
+ Track progress against milestone schedules and proactively address potential delays.
+ Develop site logistics plans and coordinate material/equipment deliveries.
+ Monitor material and equipment usage to reduce waste and promote safe handling.
+ Conduct daily inspections to ensure framing/siding meets code and project specifications.
+ Verify proper installation of all framing/siding components including wall panels, studs, joists, beams, trusses, and siding.
+ Identify and resolve quality issues promptly with corrective actions.
+ Lead safety meetings and daily huddles to review crew assignments, safety protocols, schedules, and quality goals.
+ Maintain clear communication and documentation with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and inspectors.
+ Participate in weekly coordination meetings.
+ Address crew conflicts and performance concerns.
+ Ensure quality control throughout installation, backout, punchlist, and final inspections.
Required Skills & Experience:
+ Minimum 10 years of experience in building construction.
+ At least 5 years of hands-on carpentry experience.
+ Strong knowledge of framing and siding scopes, techniques, and best practices.
+ Ability to interpret construction documents including drawings, specs, submittals, and shop drawings.
+ Skilled in using framing/siding tools and equipment.
+ Proficient in scheduling and crew management.
+ Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
Certifications & Qualifications:
+ First Aid / CPR certified.
+ Aerial Lift, Scissor Lift, and Forklift certifications (if applicable).
+ Competent Person certification in Scaffolding and Fall Protection.
