Salary Range:

Joe Bland Construction LLC, is seeking a reliable Field Mechanic to join our team. The Field Mechanic will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining construction equipment and vehicles at various job sites. This role is critical to keeping our operations running smoothly and efficiently in the field.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform troubleshooting, diagnostics, repairs, and preventative maintenance on a wide range of heavy construction equipment (e.g., excavators, loaders, dozers, backhoes, cranes, skid steers).

Conduct on-site equipment inspections and document findings.

Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and perform emergency repairs in the field.

Maintain service records, logs, and inspection reports accurately.

Operate company service truck equipped with tools and parts inventory.

Communicate with site supervisors and equipment operators to assess equipment issues and determine repair needs.

Ensure all repairs and maintenance are performed safely and comply with OSHA and company safety standards.

Order parts and materials as necessary and manage inventory on the service vehicle.

Assist with equipment mobilization and setup as needed.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED required; technical school or vocational training in diesel technology or heavy equipment mechanics preferred.

Minimum 3 years of experience working on heavy construction equipment in a field setting.

Strong knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

Valid driver's license; CDL (Class B or higher) preferred or ability to obtain.

Own set of hand and power tools suitable for heavy equipment repairs.

Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks under minimal supervision.

Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

Physical ability to lift up to 75 lbs, kneel, bend, and work in a variety of outdoor conditions.

Work Environment & Schedule:

Field-based role; travel to multiple job sites within the region.

May require extended hours, weekends, or on-call availability based on project needs.

Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions and around active construction sites.
