Job Description
Overview:
Stratum Builders is a growing construction and maintenance company serving high-end residential and commercial clients in Chicago. Our projects range from repairs and refreshes to large-scale renovations and new builds. We're looking for a Construction Manager who's hands-on, solutions-driven, and excited to help shape our company's field leadership and operations as we scale.
Responsibilities:
Model high standards of quality and professionalism to set the tone for crews and uphold company values in the field.
Supervise projects and coordinate field crews and subcontractors to ensure work is delivered on time and with high quality.
Maintain a physical on-site presence by traveling between job sites, working alongside crews to monitor daily progress, resolving challenges, and keeping project timelines on course.
Draft detailed estimates and realistic timelines to support smooth, efficient project delivery.
Maintain regular communication with vendors and reach out to clients as needed to provide updates, manage changes, and keep expectations aligned.
Prepare detailed, accurate project documentation to support quality assurance and enable effective collaboration with the operations team on scheduling, tracking, and reporting.
Support the growth of a skilled construction team by helping identify, hire, and develop tradespeople such as painters, carpenters, and masons.
Collaborate with company leadership on developing consistent workflows, standards, and jobsite protocols (SOPs).
Requirements:
5+ years of experience in construction and building methods, with a focus on residential projects.
Proven track record of success in managing multiple projects, crews, and stakeholders.
Experience with masonry, tuckpointing, roof repairs, and replacements.
High attention to detail, with a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
Ability to work comfortably on ladders, climb stairs, and travel between multiple locations.
Proficiency in using email and applications.
Valid driver's license.
What We Offer:
Base Pay: $80,000 - $90,000 annually, depending on experience, with bonus potential.
Company Car: A vehicle for work purposes will be provided within 45 days from the start date. The company vehicle will be parked at HQ and Stratum Builders will cover all reasonable business-related vehicle expenses.
Full-time position: Monday-Friday, with occasional Saturdays.
