Job Description
The Maintenance of Way (MOW) Track Operator-level employees are responsible for safely and efficiently operating a variety of heavy machinery such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, grapple trucks, as well as on-track equipment such as tampers, regulators, tie removers/inserters, spikers, and spike pullers to support construction activities.
Typical daily duties include inspecting equipment prior to use, reading and interpreting site plans or grade stakes, following instructions from supervisors and foremen, and collaborating with ground crews to complete tasks according to project timelines. Operators are expected to perform minor routine maintenance, report mechanical issues, and always maintain a clean and safe work area.
This role requires strong situational awareness, mechanical aptitude, and a commitment to safety. The ideal Track Operator thrives in a fast-paced outdoor environment and is capable of working independently or as part of a team to meet production goals and project specifications.
Qualifications:
Proven ability to perform and excel at the base expectations, certifications, and requirements of the MOW Track Worker
Valid state issued driver's license and qualified company driver
Commercial driver's license (for operating positions requiring CDL)
Proven aptitude and skills operating construction equipment
Familiarity with construction site safety procedures and protocols
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and grade stakes
Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of equipment maintenance
Physical stamina and ability to lift heavy objects and work in extreme weather conditions
Proven responsibility and trustworthiness of company property (trucks, tools, etc.)
Good communication skills and ability to work as part of a team
Attention to detail and commitment to performing tasks safely and efficiently
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights or weekends as needed
Willingness to travel and work at locations that will necessitate overnight stays away from home
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
