We're currently seeking a highly motivated Construction Manager I located in Seattle, WA .

Overview:

Supports higher level Construction Managers in all phases of construction on projects Port-wide, which include Aviation, Maritime, Economic Development, and the Port's partnership with NW Seaport Alliance. This position may manage a small, relatively straight foreword project or assist in parts of a large complex project. Responsible for working with multiple stakeholders to deliver a project that complies with the contract documents and meets quality, safety, schedule, budget, and operational needs. This scope is on the Marine side of the organization and will be the PM for various new builds and renovations of Marine facilities.

Required Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree

Preferred Certification:

  • Engineering in Training (EIT)
  • Construction Manager in Training (CMIT)
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license

Required Qualifications:

In order to become a candidate, you must possess the following skills and abilities.

  • Knowledge of public works contracting processes and procedures. Technical knowledge of a variety of construction operations, methods, materials, costs, and equipment.
  • Familiarity with labor relations principles, including the collective bargaining process.
  • Knowledge of engineering and architectural design principles, terminology, methods, practices, and procedures.
  • Knowledge of project management principles, practices and procedures including cost estimating and managing project budgets and schedules.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, SharePoint, and PDF readers, and databases.

Responsibilities:

  • Contract Management: Manage small, straightforward projects or parts of large moderately complex construction projects in support of higher level Construction Managers. Administer construction contracts by monitoring/reviewing the contractor's work for compliance with plans, specifications, and schedules. Supports construction management activities by reviewing project documentation and participating in and/or conducting planning, preconstruction, coordination, progress, scheduling, and field staff meetings. Partner with stakeholders to evaluate, respond to, and/or process submittals, requests for information (RFIs), and Pay Applications to provide a consolidated response in a timely manner. Resolve basic payment disputes and ensure timely and accurate payment for work performed.
  • Identify and mitigate potential cost and schedule related issues and maintain tracking of contract changes utilizing Trend Logs. Develop cost estimates. Verify all required tests, inspections, measurements, and special inspections are scheduled and satisfactorily completed to ensure quality control and permit compliance.
  • Program Management: Coordinate with stakeholders including other Port departments, contractors, tenants, other agencies to ensure proper documentation and expedited execution of the work. Resolve or assist in resolution of issues that arise. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external customers and provide regular updates on the construction process. May assist with development of Division 1 specifications during Design Phase.
  • Personnel Leadership: Provide lead direction to Assistant Construction Managers (ACM) and Construction Inspectors and assign and monitor work products. Lead and influence others without direct authority.
  • Business Management and Policy: Assist with the preparation of internal department policies and procedures, or special projects.
  • Dispute Resolution: Resolve project issues and challenges in coordination with other Port departments, contractors, tenants, or customers.
  • Assist with evaluating proposals and claims.

  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary:

  • $120,000.00 annually

Bonus Pay:
A bonus may be granted to employees depending on individual performance, employee utilization, attendance, tenure, and furtherance of other non-financial corporate goals; bonus opportunities are available at management's discretion.
