You'll select and use appropriate tools, machinery, and specialty equipment with limited guidance, while learning the protocols for working safely with electricity and other energy sources in an industrial environment. Upon successful completion, you'll earn a Journeyman's card and transition into a full-time skilled trade role.
Full Job Description
We are looking for a talented Electrician Level II to join our team specializing in Manufacturing at our Cummins Inc. facility in Lakewood, NY. This hybrid apprentice role offers hands-on experience, structured training, and a clear path to a certified Journeyman position.
In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:
Ensure Equipment Availability: Perform electrical maintenance and machine support tasks to keep equipment operational and minimize downtime
Promote Safety: Adhere to and promote Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) standards to ensure a safe working environment

Support Preventive Maintenance: Provide feedback and perform preventive maintenance to extend equipment lifespan

Internal Candidates: Must have an accredited 2-year associate degree in Electrical Design, Industrial Electrical Machine Controls/Programming, Mechatronics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
Experience
Requires some work experience or intermediate-level knowledge obtained through education, training, or on-the-job experience
Apprenticeship Details
Placement into the New York State Registered Apprenticeship Program
Completion of 8,000 hours of on-the-job training (OJT) is required
Upon graduation, you will receive an official Journeyman's card
Transition into a full-time skilled trade role in Assembly or Machining
Shift placement will be based on business needs at the time of graduation (typically 2nd or 3rd shift)
