About the Role

We are seeking a Civil/Structural Engineer to join our dynamic Substation Design Team . This role is ideal for a motivated professional with a strong back ground in high-voltage substation design and a passion for delivering high-quality engineering solutions.

As a Civil/Structural Engineer, you will be responsible for designing steel structures, concrete foundations, and other civil components for electric substations supporting utility systems and renewable energy interconnections. Youll collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project milestones are met and designs comply with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform civil design for HV (4kV230kV) and EHV (above 230kV) substation projects.
  • Develop steel structure and concrete foundation designs, oil containment systems, metal grate platforms, and fire walls.
  • Conduct structural analysis and produce detailed design documentation and BOMs.
  • Assist in general arrangement, conduit, grounding, and site plan development.
  • Review erosion/sediment control and stormwater management plans.
  • Coordinate with physical designers and other engineering disciplines.
  • Provide technical support during procurement and construction phases.
  • Attend internal and client technical review meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited).
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in HV substation civil design.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or MicroStation.
  • Experience with SDS (Substation Design Suite).
  • Strong 3D modeling skills (AutoCAD, Civil 3D, MicroStation).
  • Familiarity with PLS-CADD, LPILE, STAAD, or similar tools.
  • Solid understanding of NEC and NESC standards.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of construction practices and constructability.
  • Experience in proposal writing and project estimating.
  • Familiarity with scheduling and project controls.
  • Strong communication and team-building skills.
  • Ability to manage priorities, resolve conflicts, and drive results.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $95000.00 - $120000.00/yr.
