Responsible to the Shop Supervisor to assemble, install, maintain and repair pipes, fittings and fixtures for heating, water, gas, fuel and drainage systems in accordance with specifications and plumbing codes. Includes assembling and installing valves, pipefittings, and pipes composed of metals, such as iron, steel, brass, and nonmetals. Conducts testing, preventative maintenance, and expedient system assessment to identify clogs and/or leaks. Installs, repairs, and maintains plumbing fixtures, such as sinks, commodes, showers, water heaters, water fountains, and regulators. Responds to emergency repair calls to restore operation upon notice during regular hours or after duty on-call hours.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains, installs and repairs all aspects of plumbing and liquid fuels systems including, but not limited to water, gas, interior and exterior plumbing components, and sanitary/storm sewer systems
  • Modifies, repairs, replaces and maintains plumbing and fuel distribution system components
  • Able to read and interpret Work Orders, parts requests, drawings/schematics/blueprints and manuals in order to accomplish assigned duties
  • Accomplishes periodic inspections/recurring maintenance requirements and associated documentation Maintains systems to conform to written guidance and applicable changes
  • Maintains required operating forms and records and assures proper use of all assigned shop equipment
  • Schedules work and performs quality assurance as well as other duties as assigned in accordance with contractual, functional and mission requirements
  • Shop subject matter expert in repair and installation of water heaters and associated components/systems

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
  • State issued driver’s license
  • Three or more years verifiable experience in plumbing and liquid fuel distribution systems
  • Excellent communication and customer service related people skills
  • Able to utilize computer automated systems to perform assigned duties

Desired Qualifications:

  • USAF 5-lvl WFMS 3E4X1 Certification
