Jacobs is seeking an Entry-Level Highway/ Roadway Engineer to join our Transportation team in Chicago, IL, working on projects that bring innovative solutions to our clients' challenges locally and worldwide.

This is an exciting opportunity for you to join our team and be involved in a variety of engineering tasks for our state and local government clients, such as planning, design, and maintenance of large-scale infrastructure projects.

In this position you will work with a multidisciplinary team taking on a variety of tasks that blend your theoretical knowledge with practical application. Under the guidance of professional engineers, architects and other senior technical staff you will provide design and engineering services for highways, expressways, and major road networks.

You will be responsible for preparing right-of-way plans, detailed roadway designs, drainage solutions, floodplain management strategies, and intersection improvements. Collaboration with environmental scientists, utility locators, and surveyors is essential to meet stringent requirements and address maintenance and improvement needs. The position requires proficiency in CADD to create various engineering drawings, layouts, and models that effectively communicate project details in accordance with established standards and procedures. Additionally, you will be expected to actively participate in project meetings, contributing your expertise and insights to ensure successful project outcomes.

This position demands a results-driven, client-focused professional with excellent written and verbal communication skills, a collaborative mindset, and a strong work ethic. You'll take ownership of the completeness, accuracy and timeliness of the work assigned to you by demonstrating the ability to progress from basic design work assignments to more complicated and involved projects working in conjunction with a technical team. Your ability to manage your time and responsibilities effectively while maintaining a high standard work product will be instrumental in delivering successful project outcomes.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related degree
  • Experience using CADD/Design software (preferably Microstation/OpenRoads/AutoCADD)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in civil engineering or related degree
  • Engineer In Training (EIT) Certificate or on track to obtain within 6 months

Posted Salary Range: Minimum

61,800.00

Posted Salary Range: Upper

90,000.00
