Position Summary:

  • The person in this role will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering tasks required to design and prepare Custom Product Requests (CPR) for sale in ways that align with best practices and business needs. They will support projects, from concept to production launch, with minimal oversight while collaborating with partners across all departments.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates engineering project requests to ensure they are viable and coordinates with other functions to ensure the proposed solutions are financially sound
  • Leads design of parts and products tailored to customer requests
  • Provides technical support to the engineering process by advising on technical aspects of design, manufacturing, and quality requirements
  • Understands and facilitates Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews with internal and external stakeholders
  • Collaborates with suppliers to review technical documentation, understand concerns that merit consideration, and conduct releases or revisions where necessary
  • Reviews all documentation for data accuracy, design feasibility, intended impact, technical accuracy, regulatory compliance
  • Assures designs meet the functional requirements as defined by technical specifications and pertinent regulatory standards
  • Ensures projects are completed within budget and on time
  • Monitors progress and performance against the project plan
  • Takes action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays
  • Reviews reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to determine or address problems
  • Coordinates prototyping and testing activities that verifies and validates design expectations are met
  • Identifies, develops, and coordinates resources necessary to complete the project
  • Documents progress on all tasks and communicates relevant details to management, Sales, Business Operations, and Customer Care
  • Supports continuous process improvement and waste elimination
  • Keeps abreast of new design, manufacturing, and material development practices
  • Additional duties, as requested

Position Requirements (Knowledge and Experience):

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or similar field
  • 3-5 years engineering experience in a fast-paced, product development environment
  • Technical understanding of manufacturing processes including sheetmetal, welding, injection molding, extrusion, and casting
  • Working knowledge of engineering practices and documentation methods including bills of material (BOM) and engineering change orders (ECO)
  • Should understand the basic needs and workflows of R&D, Operations, Supply Chain, and Customer Service groups.
  • Self-motivated, creative, and capable of handling and prioritizing multiple projects

  • Must possess a collaborative working style that thrives in a cross-functional team environment
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to actively listen

  • Proficient with SolidWorks (or other 3D parametric modeling software)
  • Proficient with Oracle (or other ERP software)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs including Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook

Salary Description

$82,000 - $95,000 + Bonus
