Job Summary: Project Team Leader who Manages and Coordinates all Project Controls while overseeing field operations of self-perform framing & siding activities on large projects ranging in size from $50MM - $150MM (Project) / $5MM - $20MM (Framing & Siding). Responsible for managing work, including mobilization and project set-up, panel design coordination, deliveries and logistics, general project organization, planning, safety, managing staffing/labor/subcontractors/vendors, quality control, scheduling, documentation, punchlist, inventory, demobilization and project closeout to complete the work on time, within budget, and to a quality specified. Responsible for always operating in the best interest of Shaw Construction & The Project.

Duties & Responsibilities:

Framing Project Manager:

  • Proficient knowledge with framing and siding scopes of work, methods and techniques

  • The ability to read, understand and follow construction documents including drawings of all disciplines, specifications, submittals and shop drawings

  • Subcontractor / vendor selection and buyout

  • Assist Shaw Self Perform Manager and Superintendent to set-up project with the Project team, including:

  • Labor & equipment plan

  • Budget

  • Code tracking and management

  • Framing schedule

  • Budget setup, including sub jobs and rate verification

  • Internal reporting

  • Monthly Job cost forecast

  • Production rates and tracking budget vs actual

  • External reporting

  • Change orders and its management

  • Pay applications

  • Coordinate with Superintendent and Subcontractor the delivery, storage, management of all materials.

  • Assist with detailed material take offs for purchase

  • Assist with plan review and VE (Value Engineering)

  • Track and project required material for delivery. Travel from job to job checking quality of work and use of materials

  • Oversight of Superintendent to schedule the work of subcontractors

  • Coordinate and verify biweekly updated schedules and publish to all team members

  • Ensure timely disbursement to vendors for delivery

  • Ensure Quality through Shaws 1,2,3 QA/QC program including proper installation, backout, punchlist and general quality. Specifically verifying the following are in place on each Framing project:

  • Pre-planning meetings

  • Daily morning huddles

  • First installation inspections

  • Safety & scheduled inspections

  • Quality control & punchlist inspections / corrections

  • Project documentation / Project Administration:

  • Supervise, Mentor and Train Assistant Project Mangers / Project Engineers

  • Document Control / Drawings, ASIs etc

  • Submittal / Shop Drawing Review & Panel Design Coordination

  • RFIs

  • Daily reports

  • Time cards

  • Safety Inspections

  • Safety training

  • Schedule updates

  • QA/QC inspections

  • Change Management

  • Notices / Notifications

  • Collaborate and Assist Self-Perform Superintendent with managing the project schedule and budget including project labor, material and equipment management / forecasting, internal / external reporting, accounting etc

  • Monitor and enforce the comprehensive project safety & security program as defined in the company safety program and in accordance with all applicable safety codes and regulations

  • Coordinate with equipment manager for the rental of Shaw internal equipment and storage of material.

  • Perform other duties and take on other responsibilities as needed for project specific scope requirements

  • Facilitate dispute resolution

Other Duties:

  • Attend and participate in company trainings / Project Management meetings / retreats
  • Assist with developing and maintaining Shaw internal / subcontractor relationships. Promote, Educate and Utilize self-perform department divisions including yard functions panel / equipment / tools, logistics, concrete, survey & BIM.
  • Assist with pre-construction, including estimating and quantification.
  • Participate in Presentations and assist in development of proposals
  • Mentor & Train APMs and PEs

Supervisor Responsibilities: Supervise superintendents, foremen, carpenters, laborers, and field / project engineers including Shaw employees, subcontractors and hourly personnel as assigned. Assist Superintendent to Manage and Maintain Project Site Equipment and Tools

Education/Experience:

4 year college degree preferably in Construction management or Engineering

Skills Required: Thorough knowledge and understanding of the general construction practices and techniques, construction document reading, construction means, methods and materials, understanding of current building codes. Knowledge of construction cost control and basic accounting procedures. Computer skills and a familiarity with Microsoft office suite programs & Procore/Autodesk. Strong management, leadership and interpersonal skills combined with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.

Physical Demands & Work Environment:

  • Performance of the required duties will require physical ability to climb permanent and temporary stairs, passenger use of construction personnel hoists, ability to climb ladders and negotiate work areas under construction.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Performing this job requires use of hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls, sit, talk and hear, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works on-site at the construction work site where the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; high precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; weather conditions and risk of electrical shock. The noise in these work environments is usually moderate to very loud.
