The Department of Public Works builds, maintains and operates the physical facilities that support and enhance the lives of Norfolk's citizens, businesses and visitors including the City's Street Network, Storm Water System, Waste Management and Recycling Systems.

Departmental Hiring Salary Range: $54,601 - $62,791.15

Essential functions include but are not limited to:

  • Reviews site plans for land survey requirements.
  • Prepares area and boundary calculations and reports for parcels and impervious areas
  • Drafts exhibits and drawings for land surveying and presentations utilizing land records and deeds
  • Checks subdivision boundaries for closures.
  • Maintains, files, and records work and cyphers completed
  • Other office and land surveying and mapping duties as directed by supervisor.

Work requires knowledge of a specific vocational, administrative, or technical nature which may be obtained with six months/one year of advanced study or training past the high school equivalency.
