PURPOSE AND NATURE OF WORK
Position is responsible for enforcement of local and national codes and regulations governing pre-completion building installation. Work involves on-site inspections at each of several phases of construction of both commercial and residential structures. Position works with relative independence, and provides advisement and customer service to involved parties throughout the building inspection process. Current vacancy is assigned to the Building discipline.
DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS
Graduation from a standard high school and experience in a wide variety of skilled residential and commercial construction; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, abilities, and skills. Experience related to building code enforcement, or in the building discipline in the construction trade, is desired for the current vacancy.
NECESSARY SPECIAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Positions in this class are assigned to an apprenticeship as defined by Civil Service Rule IV, Section 6. This requires the employee to complete certification as a Residential and Commercial Building Codes Enforcement Officer as required by the State of Louisiana within one (1) year for continued employment. Current position requires the employee to complete the preceding certifications in the Building discipline.
- Valid drivers license required to apply. Valid Louisiana drivers license required prior to appointment.
TYPE OF EXAMINATION
Examination will be a multiple-choice test.
