System One is assisting a client in hiring a Senior Estimator for Curtain Walls.
Education:
- Bachelors degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or related field (preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years experience in estimating for commercial glazing or a related construction field, with at least 3 years in a senior estimator or leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of glazing systems, materials, and installation methods. Proficiency in industry-standard estimating software.
- Track record of successfully estimating and negotiating large, complex projects.
- Analyze completed projects to compare estimated costs to actual costs and determine the reason for any discrepancies.
- Provides improvement recommendations to cost estimating procedures to reduce future discrepancies between estimated and actual costs
- Extensive General Contractor relationships & network.
- Excellent analytical skills, attention to detail, and strong communication abilities.
- Proficiency in Partner Pak/Gazier Studio, Bluebeam Construction Software, Microsoft Office, SalesForce or other similar CRM software is a plus.
- Excellent communication and negotiation abilities
- In-depth knowledge of construction materials, methods, and regulations.
- Project Evaluation: Review project drawings, specifications, addendums, schedules, and bid invite upfront documentation to determine project scope, material requirements, and labor costs.
- Estimate Preparation: Compile comprehensive, accurate, and detailed take-offs to create competitive cost estimates for glazing systems on commercial construction projects, including but not limited to curtain wall, storefront, and unitized glazing facades.
- Bid Analysis: Analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring pricing is competitive and aligned with project needs. Negotiate contracts and cost pricing when necessary through collaboration/approval with management.
- Proposal Preparation: Create cost proposals for each bid in a clear and concise manner including project specific scope, details, qualifications, notes, and exclusions.
- Cost Control: Monitor and control project costs through the estimating process, ensuring that projects are awarded/contracted within budget. Recommend solutions for cost-saving measures without compromising quality through VE exercises.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, engineers, and operations to ensure proper estimation methods and compliance with project design/specification requirements. Coordinate with internal team through standardized project handoff processes to clarify scope and technical aspects of each awarded project.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks and propose mitigating solutions, especially regarding materials, labor, timelines, and contract requirements.
- Technical Leadership: Mentor and guide junior estimators, providing training and support to ensure high-quality estimates and adherence to best practices.
- Project Support: Provide ongoing support throughout the project lifecycle, including adjustments to estimates during the pre-construction phase and execution if required.
- Customer Interaction: Maintain and build key relationships with General Contractors & Customers. Attend industry events, networking opportunities, and entertainment.
- Vendor Relationships: Maintain vendor relationships to ensure were getting the best pricing able on each project bid.
