Wet Mechanical System Design Engineer

Oversee third-party design firms in the development of wet mechanical systems, including plumbing (e.g., domestic water, sanitary sewer), HVAC hydronic systems (e.g., chilled water, hot water), and process piping for water-based systems. Review and validate third-party design deliverables, such as piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), equipment specifications, and system layouts, ensuring compliance with project requirements and standards (e.g., ASME B31.1, UPC, IPC). Conduct technical evaluations of third-party designs, verifying performance metrics such as flow rates, pressure, thermal efficiency, and system reliability. Collaborate with external design teams, contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders to align wet mechanical system designs with facility requirements and project timelines. Perform quality assurance and risk assessments on third-party designs, identifying and resolving issues related to constructability, efficiency, or compliance with building codes and regulations. Ensure third-party designs integrate seamlessly with other facility systems, such as Ultra-Pure Water (UPW), chemical systems, or gas systems, using Building Information Modeling (BIM) tools for coordination. Oversee the implementation of safety and regulatory protocols for wet mechanical systems, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and local codes (e.g., Idaho State Plumbing Code, International Mechanical Code). Support commissioning and testing phases by reviewing third-party design performance and coordinating with vendors for equipment validation and system startup. Utilize BIM tools (e.g., Revit, Navisworks) and control systems (e.g., PLC, SCADA) to verify design interoperability and ensure operational efficiency. Provide technical guidance to third-party designers, ensuring alignment with industry best practices and advancements in wet mechanical system technologies. Monitor project progress, manage design-related risks, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality design deliverables.
