Job Description The municipal engineer will be responsible for the organization, coordination, and control of all technical stages of project development and plan preparation. This role involves designing and analyzing traffic patterns, geometric layouts, and roadway alignments. The engineer will prepare contract plans, technical memoranda, reports, specifications, bid documents, and feasibility studies while ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Additionally, the engineer will perform and coordinate planning, permitting, studies, and cost estimation for municipal projects, manage projects involving various infrastructure funding sources, and build and maintain strong client relationships by attending meetings, addressing project needs, and resolving issues throughout the project lifecycle. Responsibilities
- Organize, coordinate, and control all technical stages of project development and plan preparation.
- Design and analyze traffic patterns, geometric layouts, and roadway alignments.
- Prepare contract plans, technical memoranda, reports, specifications, bid documents, and feasibility studies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Perform and coordinate planning, permitting, studies, and cost estimation for municipal projects.
- Manage projects involving various infrastructure funding sources.
- Build and maintain strong client relationships by attending meetings and addressing project needs.
- Proficiency in design, AutoCAD, civil engineering, municipal engineering, and transportation.
- Experience with AutoCAD, MicroStation, CAD drafting, roadway, site development, utility design, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and capital projects.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school.
- 3+ years of experience in the AEC industry or relevant internships if a new graduate.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- A valid U.S. drivers license.
- Experience in AutoCAD or MicroStation is a plus.
- Illinois Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain licensure is preferred.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
