The Brunner Island power plant in York Haven, Pennsylvania is seeking candidates for their entry-level Laborer position.
Laborer pay rate of $23.176 (as of 8/8/2024) per hour to start; increase to $30.604 after completing six months of employment.
DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Duties include but are not limited to:
- Performs routine cleaning and maintains finished floors in designated areas of plant and other plant property buildings. As required, launders clothing.
- Obtains tools and material from storerooms or outside sources.
- Operates and cleans plant vehicles, such as: automobiles, small trucks (Non-Commercial driver's license), motorized sweepers, fork lifts (applicable to the duties of a Laborer, with no more than 10,000 pounds lifting capacity), snowblowers, etc.
- Operates simple air-operated and power-driven tools.
- Performs scheduled inspections on designated plant firefighting, emergency and safety equipment, such as: portable fire extinguishers, SCBA units, eye wash stations, first aid kits, etc. Performs hydrostatic testing of fire hose. Refills first aid kits as needed.
- Maintains grounds in good order, such as: doing clean-up work, clearing snow, grass/shrubbery maintenance, removing trash and debris, etc.
- Performs monthly safety inspections on designated motor vehicles.
- Paints walls, doors, handrails, etc.
- Removes waste oil and hazardous waste, used solvents and oily debris from plant to the proper holding areas, including the transfer process to the proper holding tanks.
- As assigned, works as a helper for various work groups.
- Performs clerical work associated with job duties.
- Operates weigh scale and prepares weigh slips for coal truck deliveries.
- Performs such other related duties as assigned or as necessary.
MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Satisfactory physical condition to perform manual labor work in and out of doors, at times under adverse working conditions.
- Intelligence adequate to observe conditions, learn methods and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Sufficient manual dexterity to use small hand and power tools and to perform simple mechanical tasks.
- Must be medically and physically capable of wearing approved respiratory equipment in accordance with governmental regulations and company respiratory programs.
- Ability to attain NERC clearance ( North American Electric Reliability Corporation).
- Successfully pass an entry-level skills test.
- A valid Pennsylvania Driver's License (Non-Commercial Driver's License).
