OSP Design Engineering Technician

You'll also provide necessary field and administrative support. The right candidate must live in the MD/DC area and will be required to make field visits in the area to complete assigned work. What you'll do as a Technician Engineering Plant Design and prepare outside plant work orders and associated drawings, including documentation and accurate record updates Provide administrative and field support to the outside plant provisioning process Be familiar with the various communications outside plant engineering concepts (e.g. copper cable, fiber optic cable and coax cable) Be able to utilize facility analysis process to select areas for rehabilitation Be responsible for coordinating field work Prepare work order drawings and documentation, updating work order records in an accurate and timely manner Provide work order estimated expenditures and/or placement and joint memos All other duties as assigned What you'll need To be 18 years of age or older Authorization to work in the United States for this company High School Diploma, GED equivalent, or relevant work experience At least two years of Telecom Outside Plant Engineering experience Proficient with Excel and Word Knowledge of Telecommunications industry standards, accessing, reading, and interpreting mechanized assignment records required Advanced knowledge of outside plant design Infrastructure plans (highway, sewer, bridge, etc) and survey information for the elmination and prevention of conflicts with existing or proposed underground, site obstacles, and for proper insallation location within easements and public rights of way required Regulations for OSP facilities Aerial or underground construction methods and engineering requirements Ability to interact with all on-line computer systems that VERIZON requires Municipal and governmental requirements for all work performed Physical abilities & exposures Routinely: operate vehicle, walk, use keyboard and mouse Occasionally: climb stairs and stand Salary Range $25.00/hour minimum with additional unit based pay method Why work with us Your career here is more than just a job - it's your pathway to opportunity.
