Suppliers need to understand if their candidates have solid experience in CMF, not just industrial design
Ask the candidate to look at their portfolio and ask what have they done to generate the CMF point of view, what is the decision making process.
Example - why choose the colour of this product - a qualified CMF designer should elaborate on how this impacts user experience, durable. Colour should be seen as a strategic choice rather than it looks good.
What are some difficulties that the candidate should be aware they may face in the role and need to be able to handle to be successful?
The role is very specific, this industry is very recent that's why most employees have an ID background as most colleges didn't have a major for CMF so it is rare to find this talent.
Not every Industrial designer is qualified to be in this role.
This role is an intersection who works closely with ID or material engineers.
How many rounds of interviews? 2-3 rounds of interviews
Types of Interviews
1st round with CWAM- skillsets, initial screening, background checking
2nd round- to see if they are a team player, also some technical questions on skill sets
3rd round is Potential- with an ID FTE to see if they are a right fit for the team, high level collaboration between ID and CMF
Interview Duration
30-45 minutes
