Test & Evaluation Engineer - Mechanical system design

Location: Seattle, Washington Salary Range: $65 to 75/hr

Introduction

This position is on the leading edge of aerospace systems development. The role involves verification and validation of airplane systems, including designing test systems to simulate operational loads. Systems may be active or passive, hydraulic, pneumatic, or mechanical. Responsibilities include testing flight control actuators and systems, designing simulated control surfaces, load systems, and environmental enclosures, and simulating aircraft flight decks for engineering testing of avionics/human interfaces, flight control software, and flight control laws.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Bachelor, Master, or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics, or chemistry
  • 5 years of Test aircraft hydraulic components, including pumps, accumulators, tubing, hoses, fittings, reservoirs, valves, and fluids
  • Experience with 3D modeling tools
  • Experience using office productivity software (e.g., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Applicants must be able to work directly for the hiring company on a W2 basis
Preferred Skills & Qualifications
  • Preferred BS in Mechanical Engineering
  • Effective communication skills
  • Experience in hydraulic systems, load systems, and mechanical design
  • Experience with model-based engineering tools (e.g., MATLAB, Simulink)
  • Experience following processes, procedures, and specifications
  • Experience performing laboratory testing to standards (e.g., ASTM, SAE)
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Design and implement test systems to simulate operational loads on airplane systems
  • Test flight control actuators and systems, including primary and secondary flight controls
  • Design simulated control surfaces, load systems, and environmental enclosures
  • Simulate aircraft flight decks for engineering testing of avionics/human interfaces and flight control software
  • Test aircraft hydraulic components, including pumps, accumulators, tubing, hoses, fittings, reservoirs, valves, and fluids
  • Ensure safety and troubleshoot hydraulic sub-systems and systems
