Job Description Join our team as a Civil Engineering Project Engineer where you will lead technical efforts on diverse civil engineering projects, focusing primarily on land development and public infrastructure. You will be responsible for site grading and drainage, stormwater management, water and sewer utilities, and roadway improvements. Additionally, you will stamp and sign plans prepared under the technical supervision of the Project Engineer, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and design standards. You will also play a key role in preparing construction documents, engineering reports, cost estimates, and specifications, while mentoring and training junior staff to produce high-quality engineering plans and exhibits. Responsibilities
- Serve as the technical lead on various civil engineering projects.
- Manage site grading, drainage, stormwater management, water and sewer utilities, and roadway improvements.
- Stamp and sign plans prepared under technical supervision.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and design standards.
- Prepare construction documents, engineering reports, cost estimates, and specifications.
- Mentor and train lower-level staff to produce quality engineering plans and exhibits.
- Coordinate with clients, agency staff, architects, and other consultants.
- Assist with project planning, budgeting, scheduling, and proposals.
- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- 6+ years of relevant experience in land development or site civil engineering.
- Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
- Strong knowledge of grading, stormwater design, and utility coordination.
- Familiarity with California local agency standards and permitting processes.
- Current California Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Minimum 8 years of civil engineering experience, preferably in land development and public infrastructure.
- Experience with public work projects is a plus.
- Proficiency in Microstation is a plus.
- Strong understanding of California design codes, permitting, and entitlement processes.
- Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated leadership potential and interest in project management.
- Previous work experience at a small firm is a plus.
- Experience working directly with public agencies and reviewing authorities.
- Ability to balance multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Desire to grow into a client-facing role with full project oversight.
- Effective communicator to peers, clients, and staff.
