CAD Designer Enterprise Utilities Team
Location: Dalton, GA (with travel to other Shaw facilities as needed)

Shaw Industries is seeking a skilled CAD Designer to join our Enterprise Utilities Team , a dynamic group that supports engineering needs across Shaws manufacturing, distribution, sales, and administrative facilities. While based in Dalton, GA, this team is deployed on projects throughout the enterprise.

As a CAD Designer, you will play a critical role in creating precise 2D and 3D drawings and models using AutoCAD, Inventor, and advanced tools like 3D Point Cloud Laser Scanners. Youll collaborate with engineers, architects, and other professionals to transform conceptual ideas into detailed technical designs that meet functional, technical, and aesthetic standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and refine 2D schematics and 3D models for a variety of engineering and architectural projects.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure design feasibility and accuracy.
  • Support senior designers and engineers by drafting and editing plans, and contributing to complex design solutions.
  • Maintain high standards of quality and compliance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage drawing data using Autodesk Vault, ensuring version control and integrity.
  • Mentor junior designers and contribute to CAD standards and process improvements.
  • Collect site data using manual tools and 3D laser scanning technology.
  • Participate in design reviews and client interactions to clarify requirements and enhance outcomes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelors degree in CAD design, engineering, or related field with 1+ year of relevant experience, OR 3+ years of equivalent CAD design experience.
  • Strong proficiency in 2D and 3D CAD design , with independent design capabilities.
  • Experience managing moderately complex projects and collaborating across teams.
  • Ability to mentor others and contribute to continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills and willingness to travel (domestic ~30%, international infrequently).
  • Willingness to work occasional project-related overtime.
