Position Summary
MEPPIs Critical Power Solutions Division (CPSD) is seeking an experienced Principal Design Engineer to provide technical consultation, engineering leadership, and project management expertise in the areas of product design, development, troubleshooting, application, manufacturing, monitoring, and service. In this senior role, you will guide high-impact engineering initiatives, mentor other design engineers, and represent MEPPI with customers, suppliers, and global partners.

Essential Functions

  • Provide engineering leadership and technical consultation to all CPSD departments, with a focus on supporting Engineering, Quality, and Service teams.
  • Lead significant engineering projects involving cross-functional participation and coordination.
  • Represent MEPPI to customers, vendors, MELCO, and TMEIC personnel.
  • Conduct training for customers and employees on CPSD products and technology.
  • Create and deliver advanced technical training for MEPPI employees on technology and core skills.
  • Consult on and review CPSD development programs and plans.
  • Participate in standards committees and provide MEPPI feedback as required.
  • Provide technical support on product performance, testing, and troubleshooting techniques, including root cause analysis and failure mode evaluation.
  • Support UPSD with customer technical specification reviews, presentations, and technical aspects of contract negotiations.
  • Develop and issue Standard Operating Procedures, Quality System Procedures, and required design and quality practices.
  • Design and develop peripherals and other local components for manufacture in cooperation with TMEIC.
  • Mentor other Design Engineering staff to support professional development.
  • Promote the goals and professional image of CPSD through collaboration with other MEPPI departments and vendors.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of MEPPIs Quality, Safety, and Environmental Policies and communicate their importance in daily work.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering with 10+ years in a design engineering role, or equivalent education/experience.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills in electrical systems, including solution development and root cause reporting.
  • Expertise in power electronics and inverter-based technologies.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills for engaging with customers, employees, and suppliers.
  • Proven ability to work on multiple projects in a team environment.
  • Proficiency in reading, creating, and interpreting technical drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Advanced computer skills, including MS Office, CAD software, and ERP/MRP systems.
