The Facilities Supervisor supervises and coordinates the day-to-day maintenance and operation of the City's buildings, grounds, and facilities systems.

  • Oversees staff installing, inspecting, repairing and maintaining building systems, including mechanical, electrical, plumbing, HVAC, safety and waste management.
  • Manages the administration of the City's HVAC and door access security systems.
  • Supervises and maintains facility-related assets and work orders in the City's asset management software and ensures work follows established service and quality standards for completion.
  • Responsible for training, managing and evaluating facilities and maintenance staff.
  • Responsible for the administrative functions of the department, including bookkeeping, work schedules, compliance and safety reporting, and record keeping.
  • Assists with development of department objectives and standard operating procedures for the facilities division and ensures compliance with applicable codes.
  • Assists with reviewing department organizational plans, including the development of department policies and administrative procedures.
  • Assists with preparation and execution of short- and long-term budgets and strategic plans as it relates to the department.
  • Assists with preparing short- and long-term Capital Improvement Plans as it relates to the department.
  • Supervise and perform preventative maintenance and repairs of electrical, heating-ventilating-cooling system, plumbing equipment, or any other building maintenance projects.
  • Responsible for annual building maintenance and condition inspections and prepares appropriate reports.
  • Advises and confers with the Parks, Buildings and Grounds Commission, as well as participates in all necessary committee and Common Council meetings.
  • Assists with preparation of grant applications for Federal, State and private funding.
  • Ensures building and equipment safety checks are completed as required to include the fire suppression system, fire alarms, HVAC, plumbing, electrical, elevator, and generator, as well as security checks of facilities.
  • Implements and administers safety standards and programs to provide for the safety, health and well-being of employees, participants, spectators, and citizens.
  • Supervise and assist in design and creation of specifications for competitive bids on equipment and projects including the authorization to purchase materials and equipment. Coordinate project with contractor for successful completion and compliance with specifications.
  • Responsible for coordinating and overseeing contracted work including construction and preventative maintenance.
  • Serves as a backup for on-call responsibilities, and schedules on-call service with division staff.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Facility Management, Business Administration or related field; or any combination of education and experience that provide equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities.
  • Seven years of experience in Facility Maintenance, including at least 3 years of project management experience.
  • Three (3) years in a supervisory role
  • Valid Drivers License
  • Trade certifications in Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC preferred.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Commercial Driving License (CDL)
  • Snow plowing

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to lift, push, pull or carry up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold

ENVIRONMENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Ability to work in environments with potential exposure to dust, pollen, or other airborne particles
  • Ability to work in enclosed spaces

SENSORY REQUIREMENTS

  • The task requires close visual acuity to perform various activities.
  • The task requires oral communications ability.
  • The task requires sound and depth perception.
