DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position entails managing safety inspections of existing bridge structures to ensure adherence to the NBIS and departmental protocols. Your role includes supervising civil engineers and other staff involved in inspecting both NBIS and non-NBIS structures, as well as sign structures, light poles, and retaining walls. You will oversee consultants responsible for inspecting state bridges and manage contracts related to these inspections. Additionally, you will ensure that all local and state-owned bridges measuring 8 feet or greater are inspected on schedule, preparing and managing engineering agreements to engage bridge inspection consultants. This involves developing scopes of work, creating estimates, issuing work orders, and reviewing invoices. From an engineering perspective, you will review and approve state bridge inspection reports, ensuring that necessary analyses, postings, or repairs are conducted and that inspection data is entered into the Bridge Management System within 90 days.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Montoursville. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time.
- Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment within the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $75,658 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Six years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
- Five years of civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty; and an Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; and an associate's degree in civil engineering technology or a closely related engineering discipline; or
- Two years of professional civil engineering experience in the appropriate specialty, and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering or a closely related engineering discipline.
Special Requirements:
- This position requires possession of a valid Driver's License.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirement is currently waived for this title.
